About ME

As a professional CIPR qualified copywriter – with five years in Internal Comms, a bunch of time as a blogger, and about three and a bit years in Marketing and PR – I have a talent for capturing different tones of voice* (cough), but I mainly enjoy writing stuff that's from me.

I love whipping up snarky blogs, reviews and social media posts. I’m genuinely very good at what you might call "employee engagement", but really that's just me writing funny stuff that people enjoy to a lesser or greater extent. I can and will craft newsletters so immensely laden with quality and power that, when I finish writing them, they have to be destroyed via a controlled explosion.

When I’m not busy with words, I’m tinkering away in GIMP, creating bits of novelty art that I mainly sell to Metro drivers and their families.  I’m also skilled in shooting and editing videos – I've learned CapCut and everything.

Beyond work, I’m happily married to a lady metro driver, and we have two greasy nerd sons, aged 14 and 11, who spend their days, nights and weekends playing video games.

What got me into copywriting?

I wrote and directed short films at uni, with the full intention of becoming a movie man.

When that completely and utterly failed to materialise – I didn't even try moving to London – I became a team leader on a technical helpdesk. To avoid doing that job, I started writing a fun newsletter to entertain the massive barn full of 20 something 5-a-side enthusiasts that was our workplace. It had everything from staff look-a-likes to weird competitions and choose your own adventures... and it rapidly became my pride and joy.

That success opened up a route into corporate comms, which to be fair is quite a different prospect – but I grew my skillset and sort of made a career out of it.

Do I have any professional affiliations or memberships?

I have a CIPR qualification, and years of experience creating content for the likes of Hewlett Packard, the DWP, global pharma companies and highly esteemed entrepreneurs.

Seriously, I've part written business books and self help guides and all sorts.

this bit's only here to fill space

Now that you're here, why not...
